The Tree of Life

The Tree of Life Genesis 2:9,15-16, 22-23 1) Sing Praise songs about LIFE! 2) Read Bible Verses with/to the children. 3) Show them the picture on Pg 2 as you summarize the story with these words. God created the most amazing world for us! He put Adam and Eve in charge of tending the beautiful garden of plants, herbs, trees, and animals He made. They had everything they needed to keep God’s creation beautiful. In the Garden of Eden, God put a special tree called the Tree of Life. If you ate from this tree you would live forever! Adam and Eve could eat from this tree anytime they wanted. It would bring fresh life to them! We remember that Adam and Eve chose to eat from the forbidden tree instead. Sin came into the world and God put a flaming sword in front of the Tree of Life so they couldn’t eat from it anymore. He didn’t want them to live forever knowing both good and evil. Don’t you think God was very sad? Years went by. One day God sent His own Son, Jesus to show the world how much He loved them. Jesus reminded the world how good God is, healing the sick, raising the dead, and feeding the hungry. He never sinned and lived a perfect life. After 3 years, Jesus gave His life for the world in a very meaningful way. Jesus died on a wooden cross made from a tree. On this tree He paid the price for Adam and Eve’s sin – and our sin too! Because He died for us, we can now be forgiven for all our sin. We can be right with God and make Him happy! When we believe that Jesus died on this tree for us, we are saved from sin and have eternal life. We can live forever with Him!  Craft Idea: Let the children collect leaves and glue or tape them to a picture they draw of a tree. Or collect branches and leaves and let them make their own version of the Tree of Life! They can find two sticks and tie them together in the middle to form a cross, too. 
